Hmm, interesting. Thanks for ranking them, seeing as I plan on buying the next book based on how I feel about Sex Drugs and Cocoa Puffs. I didn't mean in order as in series, I meant in order of their release dates. I wanted feedback as to how people that have read all of them would rank them, rather than someone telling me to "just read them in order of their release."
Oh ok gotcha. I think all of them are worth a read, as long as you enjoy Sex Drugs and Cocoa Puffs, obviously. I ranked Fargo Rock City last because it focused on heavy metal music and I am neither knowledgeable nor a huge fan of that music. But I'm sure I'm not exactly his intended audience.

I'm currently reading Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson. I wasn't into it much at first but it's starting to grow on me. I'm only halfway done but parts of the book have already made me tear up a little. Really enjoying it.

I just finished The Wild Things. I did enjoy it, but I don't think I liked how the wild things could talk. It just felt wrong, I always imagined them as silent for some reason. I did like how the narration was based a lot on what Max was feeling himself, and his perception of the world around him.

I started The Color Purple on Friday.
The Color Purple is my favourite book. It's so great.

Over halfway through Under the Dome now. I will start the next segment, "Salt", next.

This book has kept me more than entertained up until this point. I just have a feeling my love for the book will hinge on the end. Hope it's not a disappointment.

I can't wait to read this over Christmas break. I read Yiddish Policemen's Union a month ago and had an absolute blast with it. Love Chabon - one of the great contemporary writers.

Infinite Jest- by David Foster Wallace. Has anyone read it? I read it because a past teacher suggested it, but no one else I know has read it, and I really want to know what other people think about it.

He's like the modern Faulkner.

I'd say he more of a stylistic predecessor to O'Connor than Faulkner. Yes, both Faulkner and McCarthy use a "stream-of-conscious" type of approach, but McCarthy is much more in love with the language than Faulkner. In that sense Joyce would actually be a good parallel. Let's say he's somewhere between a modern Joyce and an updated O'Connor (since she doesn't predate him by much).

I've read it. It's at once brilliant and listless. A flawed masterpiece.

Haha, truth. That sounds about right.
