Due to the strength of a facebook campaign, Rage Against the Machine's "Killing in the Name Of" is currently #1 on the UK iTunes single chart.

When I first heard about this I though "no way, it wont happen, noone will bother with it" but its gone from strength to strength and its looking promising that Rage will be at #1 this christmas :D

I doubt this will hold out after the X Factor single gets its physical release today.
Everyone's saying that, but no one buys physical releases anymore. Will this one really make a difference? I've not payed attention to the chart in years, so I don't know if X Factor physical singles are a big seller.

I don't think they went with it b/c it's weird/insane... I think they did b/c you can't make a bigger middle finger than Rage to the commercialization of music like X Factor.

I've jumped on the bandwagon, after I promised myself I wouldn't, but it looks like it could be happening now.
I still think it's stupid that it had to be a band that is also with Sony. I would like Happy Xmas (War Is Over) to have been the song instead. Or Fairytale of New York, a REAL Christmas song.
