I've never seen a Bond film but I'm contemplating seeing this because of all the praise. Would I be able to understand this one without having seen any others or should I check out the others before hand?

You'd be able to go in and understand everything. Bond films stand pretty well on their own generally. There are some callbacks to prior Bond movies but they aren't important to the plot or understanding the story.

Thanks. I feel like the best thing about Bond is kinda the worst in that it has lasted so long, and there are so many films that trying to get into it as a new fan is overwhelming.
