Have you tried Chrome out recently? I was a loyal Firefox user from the time it was called Firebird (version 0.8 beta IIRC), and I've found myself using Chrome exclusively now that it has a solid database of extensions. There are still some elements of Firefox that I miss (vertical tabs especially), but if it's giving you problems, I'd definitely recommend giving Chrome a shot.
