Aw, c'mon. He hit 30 homers three times after 1999 and 40 homers once. He'll go down as one of the greatest players of our generation.

Huge fan of his. He was my first favorite player, but I"m calling it like I see it. The minute he went to Cincy, he was a has-been.

In 2000, his first year in Cincy, he hit 40 homers and 118 RBI's. In 2005 he hit 35 homers and 95 RBI's. Those are huge numbers for anyone, but they are overshadowed by his monster years he had with Seattle in 1996 and 1997. Had anyone but Griffey had those numbers they would have been looked at as extremely successful.

well, when nearly every other major offensive figure in baseball from the past two decades has been linked to performance enhancing drugs, i'll take junior any day.

Junior was definitely my favorite non-Yankee. 1995 hurt a lot. But I think 96,98,99,00 made up for it haha. I'll always love Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball for SNES...good times playin that game with my brother and friends.

Neither have a lot of good players. What's your point exactly?

Can you blame him? Everyone falls asleep during Mariners games.

I don't really see it as a huge event. Certainly his body of work speaks for itself, but he leaves at a point when he's gotten bad press for sleeping in the clubhouse and the team is in the conference basement. I'm almost certain if the Mariners were in first he wouldn't have called it quits. And name some players who haven't been relevant since 1999.
