And this band is about as cheesy. You can only sample so many obvious indie rock song choices before it gets tired as fuck. And it has.

I'm not saying it's automatically bad to sample indie or whatever. P.O.S. samples pretty nontraditional stuff and I love it. I haven't even heard Chiddy Bang yet, I have to wait til I get on a computer with speakers, so I'm not going to pass any kind of judgment til then, but usually when I hear about "hipster-hop" (i.e. Mad Rad... ugh...) it never turns out well.

The Swelly Express is awesome. Chiddy Bang were supposed to play at a party at my cousin's frat but they fell through. I was so bummed. But they ended up booking XV instead, and he was great. Definitely check him out if you haven't yet.

They're a rap group who samples alternative artists. Chidera is still an amazing rapper, and the beats are all solid.

i like this album. the skits are stupid, but most of the songs are bang-on. It's nice that there are so many samples, but even better that they are picked intelligently and used kind of coyly.

Or they are 19 year old kids, which one used to work with indie bands so he ended up liking the music and not who his music reaches.
