Yeah, and I think it's due to the flow of it all. "God Saves the Foolish Kings" sounds like Switchfoot meets the Who, but nothing else on the album is like that at all. A lot of other songs shift between
MMHMM-era Relient K pop punk or slow, lengthy ballads. It's not a
bad album by any means, it just lacks the pleasant all-togetherness of the last album. Still -- the production on this record is enormous. Really love how it sounds, especially on the all-out rock tracks with layered guitars.
