Pretty good album. A little uneven in terms of tone, but I dig it -- especially the first half, which resemble the strongest songs Switchfoot never wrote. "Independence Day For a Petty Thief" = kickass rock n' roll

Jealous you have heard this already, haha. I can not wait to hear this album. Glad there isn't such a long delay like with the last album.

Edit: "God Save the Foolish Kings" just reminds me of Godspell's "God Save the People". I'm not sure if I'm diggin' the song. I'm loving "Elevator"'s riff though.

(Does anyone even remember Godspell, or am I on my own with that one?)

Yeah, and I think it's due to the flow of it all. "God Saves the Foolish Kings" sounds like Switchfoot meets the Who, but nothing else on the album is like that at all. A lot of other songs shift between MMHMM-era Relient K pop punk or slow, lengthy ballads. It's not a bad album by any means, it just lacks the pleasant all-togetherness of the last album. Still -- the production on this record is enormous. Really love how it sounds, especially on the all-out rock tracks with layered guitars.
