Eh. I really think Gym Class Heroes (or Travie all the members really) had their day in the sun a few years back with As Cruel As School Children. At the time there weren't many rap groups (or at least ones that operated like this group) that kind of worked a style that could appeal to kids who strictly listened to rock/punk/alternative rock/whatever and that was definitely appealing and different at the time. Now there are so many hip hop groups that appeal to everyone they just kind of got left in the dust.

As for his solo album, okay listen, nothing I'm jumping back to often...but I kind of wanted to like it more than I do so far.

Good review as always though, but come on William Becket has a good voice. Man if this were the days of Almost Here that would be blasphomous...but from the last album or so form TAI you find some solid ground around the mud...but not much.

that song is so damn catchy though. i too wished the album sounded a bit different. i loved how their are real instruments on billionaire though.

I don't think it's even close. Beckett is probably the second best vocalist on Decaydance (behind Stump & pending one's thoughts on Urie) and McCoy doesn't even make the top half of that list.

This. Beckett is one of the more talented vocalists in the "scene" right now.

I listened to some of the songs off the album, they weren't bad. I like Billionaire a lot.

I heard the song "Billionaire" then decided that this wasn't for me. Seems like it was just written for radio play.

This album wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Not as good as Gym Class Heroes, but still quite enjoyable.

That second sentence needs work.

Need You shocked me, fucking love that song.. I hate the T-Pain song of course, that song is a clusterfuck. I like GCH alot, but was expecting to hate this... pleasantly surprised is the best way for me to describe this. and "summer record" doesnt seem like a diss at all to me, as some of my favorite records fall into that group.

Will have to check this out

I know... he's just awful. as much as I despise auto-tune, I dont mind how Travis uses it on this album. T-Pain is just a crime against music ugh.
