07:20 PM on 06/25/10 | I'm going to fucking hang myself. What the fuck? Someone post the "you mad" thing, because Im mad.
:currently lighting Siamese dream and melancholy on fire:
EDIT: I loved the dudes in Thee Armada. Josh you were an awesome dude so I'm sorry. But bands should have to pay some dues. This is the exact kind of crap that I not only can't support, but I fight against it. And what is Billy Corgan thinking? Doesn't he have a code of ethics? There is no integrity left in the music scene. |
Imagine you actually did something with your band for 3+ years.
Now imagine that coming to an end and you changing direction. If you were good enough during those 3 years you still have the support of the people around you and can therefore take it to the next level.
I'd understand how you can't see having industry support as being something viable, but come back after 3 years of struggling and you'll understand. Hard work pays off.

Dude chill out. They do sound like a pile of suck to me, but they were all in previous bands that "paid their dues" which in no way is required anyway.

09:04 PM on 06/25/10 | The Proud, The Loud, The Many Is this the same exact band?(powerspace)

09:07 PM on 06/25/10 | IWillBuryYou&EverythingYouBelieveIn What the hell is wrong with this happening for them? These are 5 great dudes who put together a band for the right reasons: to make rock and roll music and have fun. They've been busting ass for 7 years, have put up with a lot of bullshit, and stood up for themselves by taking a risk and making the record THEY wanted to make. Just because you haven't heard of them and don't know the full story doesn't give you license to hate. Don't be bitter because they're better musicians than you (they are, and they're better than me too) and they managed to navigate their way to a major label deal. Good for them.
These guys deserve to be SUPPORTED, because unlike way too many artists these days, these are pure musicians - all of whom can run musical circles around 90% of the guys in bands posted on this site. They've put years into becoming great players, and they've stuck to their guns, made a killer album, and now are getting some much deserved respect. Good for them! |
He's just bitter about any band that has any kind of success.

09:55 PM on 06/25/10 | so what kind of music is this? and what members from what bands?

10:10 PM on 06/25/10 | yikes, please dont hang yourself. the only thing i'll say to this is that everyone in our band has been doing nothing but paying dues for about five years now, slugging it out on the road in different bands, writing hundreds of songs, and busting ass. this band did not happen overnight, not even close. as for the pumpkins- weve been a huge SP fans since 5th grade, and billy happened to hear the album (which isnt nearly represented by the two songs up online right now) and he liked it enough to invite us on the tour. How this violates any sort of ethical code is completely beyond me. |
Bands pay dues, not the people in them.

I was in a band that did pretty well for 3 years. Had as much if not more success than both of these bands. We broke up. I came back, started something new, and I'm happy to struggle it out again.

Get over yourself bro. These guys are making a bold statement with a sound like this in this day and age, and they have the talent to back it up. It's a bit out there, but in a good way...I wish more bands were this original.
