While I don't listen to this band, their explanation does make me think. Would you be mad if your favorite band quit for that reason? It seems reasonable considering they said they were in the band to express themselves artistically through music (no mention of money). They said what they wanted to say, and do what they wanted to do. I respect that.

Seems similar to Elliott's reasoning for breaking up

Seems like a good enough reason. Better than drama and bad blood.

I think Isis is absolutely incredible..and to leave the band where it is on a high note like Wavering Radiant is absolutely admirable.

This is one of the most true display of a band's dedication to their art, since they are breaking up for it

Who DID NOT see this coming? It was so obvious. They obviously did everything they could do without turning in a stinker and people with intregrity call it quits while they are ahead.

I think parts of the band are going to turn in some weird-ass experimental record in a year or two. It will probably be pretty good too.

I actually can't think of a better way for a band to break up.

Good a reason as any to call it a day. Some bands keep staggering on past that point, and just tread water for years. Very respectable of Isis to know when to bow out gracefully.

I'm having a drink this evening for Isis, you should be nothing but proud of what you've done, Panopticon still gets regular spins from me!

Breaking up on a high note is always a good thing. Reminds me of Copeland.
