I never gave these guys a good listen. I'm two songs in on the new cd and am impressed. Is it the perfect replacement for Lydia? No. But they don't have to be compared with them. They're actually a different breed all together; only sharing male/female vocals.
-Not bad at all. Probably will buy this CD.
-Slightly more poppy than i thought.
not to rain on the parade here but they said that they did not want to pursue the label for this record because they did not see it as being beneficial for them at this point in time. oh well. this band will go far with or without a label.
First full-length for an unsigned band and there's already hype to live up to? Methinks just getting a record out to begin with is a pretty solid accomplishment. Regardless, this record sounds fabulous, although I think I prefer Just Say Yes. Not to take anything away from their full-length.
Their extensive use of piano and male/female vocals reminds me more of their New York counterparts Straylight Run than Lydia, but someone before me said it best with how much poppier The Narrative is than their comparisons.
Also, their Myspace picture of the band members is adorable.
