I can't listen to every single album ever released but what I can say is that whatever catches me, catches me and this is the music that caught me and what didn't catch me. I don't think this was a bad year for music at all. Several albums let us down but look at the bright side, look at all the new bands that took their place! There is some great new bands that earned my respect on freshman albums this year even though we lost some good bands as well. Thanks for taking the time to read through my list. Feel free to leave some comments and lets talk about music! Cheers!

I was completely wowed when I heard Floating World. Even though Anathallo have nine members, the depth and breadth of their album is extensive in and throughout the entire album. No one held a candle to them this year. In the area of indie-folk-pop-singer-songwriter-ish stuff, Fair and Rocky Votolato certainly held their own in a sea of hard rock this year...and with more time I think Ray LaMontagne could climb this chart. My Chemical Romance swept me off my feet with their dynamic album. "Cancer", "Mama". and "Teenagers" are standout tracks and I'm still spinning the album daily. Underoath and mewithoutYou shone in the harder genres and Set Your Goals was the underdog for the year. Inkwell made it in my top ten for the craftwork of a desirable freshman release.

love for aberdien (RIP) now peopleincars... i would swap moneen with nfg on your list only because i feel the raw intensity in moneen and appreciate the release by nfg which is better than their last effort but still not extraordinary.... moneen made your top 30 and honorable mention (mistake?).... and no love for thursday (maybe i missed it).... seems like i gotta follow you and jareds suggestions from now on because our tastes are similar
Gatsbys s/t is split with a lot of people, but the Washington kids all like it. Probably one of the best records to come out this year, in my opinion. Nice list, Gabe.
