Fantastic. I often say that my favourite band is the band whose album I most recently purchased. And this is no exception. Eventually, though, I get tired of the album and choose another band as my favourite. But this is different. I have a feeling I will continue to support the graduate for a long, long time.
Anhedonia is one of the few records that really aligned with my soul and one of the few records that I literally know every word to. I love love love that album. The City That Reads is one of my top 3 songs ever. This album has been CD 1 in my 6-disc CD changer in my car for a long time.
So after reading positive review after positive review, I was scared my expectations were going to be too high. After getting my pre-order, I laid down in a park at night and just listened to the album all the way through and...I didn't love it. In fact, I was almost disappointed. The album definitely lacks the up-tempo, in your face tracks like "I Survived" and "Justified" from Anhedonia and that was a bit of why I fell in love with The Graduate.
But eventually I came around. The album was a grower for me and it gets more beautiful with each listen. It's just starting to hit me how amazing "Pull Me In" is.
