For those debating, I just saw a promo on FX for the new episode airing Wednesday that they dubbed the "season premiere."

"Progress" is being dubbed a "sneak preview," but, despite being a true season premiere, is essentially a bridge between season 1 and 2. The next episode, titled "Letting Go," is being called the season premiere to line up with FX's other Thursday night shows.

it didn't "air" though, it was online only. As far as I know, and from all I've read promoting the series

It aired Thursday. I saw promotion on the FX channel itself for the episode airing as a sneak preview following a re-airing of season 1's finale this past Thursday.
