Here are some albums I really liked in 2006. These aren't in any order since I don't like playing favorites, I don't like hurting people's feelings (if Justin Timberlake saw his record lower on my list than say, The Format record, JT may have his mother call me up to scold me for such an idiotic indiscretion), and it also takes way too much thought and self debate.
Bouncing Souls – The Gold Record: One of my all time favorite punk bands put out their best record (IMHO) since Maniacal Laughter The Hold Steady – Boys and Girls in America: These songs could be the score to my life. The Format – Dog Problems: phenomenal experimental record. This band continues to blow me away. Brand New – The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me: Balls to the wall rock record. "Jesus" could be the best song this great band has ever written. My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade: I wasn't expecting to like this record since the single didn't really grab me. After one listen through the album I am hooked. That first song is effin killer! These guys deserve every bit of success they have Justin Timberlake – FutureSex/LoveSounds: He made "bringin' sexy back" a household phrase. Hell, my mom even uses it and so does yours! I truly believe JT is our generation's Frank Sinatra (sans probable mob ties). He can sing, dance, act, and is one likable, charismatic fellow! Thom Yorke – The Eraser: Thom Yorke is brilliant. Kevin Devine – Put Your Ghost to Rest: Kevin is a rare talent. I cannot wait until the rest of the world catches on. The Lawrence Arms – Oh! Calcutta!: Great punk record that has gotten more play on long drives in the van than probably anything else in my mp3 player (I loath the ipod). The Loved Ones – Keep Your Heart: What can I say, it was a good year for punk rock! Up and coming band with tons of hooks. Sean Lennon – Friendly Fire: Trying to get out of the shadow of your Beatle father must be rough. I think this record could do it for Sean. He has certainly come into his own.
/Editor note: Yes, if this looks familiar to some of you, it was indeed posted earlier as Shawn from the Matches. Jason FWDed to me with the wrong band name. It's what happens when you stay up til 3AM.

yeah, it did look familiar, and i got confused. until i saw that reply.
I agree. I loved Friendly Fire. Sean Lennon is amazing artist on his own, he really doesn't need any sort of comparison to his Dad. I think this is my favorite Top 10 list from anyone from a band posted on AP.
I agree with the Kevin Devine comment. That man blows me away with every album and to some level, I hope the world doesn't catch on. He's too good for them lol.
