Illegal Downloading and Congress

Posted by: Matthew Tsai (11/18/10)
According to Entertainment Weekly, "The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee announced today it had unanimously approved a bill giving the Justice Department new powers to combat websites that illegally offer copyrighted content for sale, download, or streaming." More information can be found here.

Submitted by neo506

Update: The bill allows the Justice Department to seek a court order against the domain name of websites offering illegal music or movie downloads or ones that sell counterfeit goods ranging from fake tennis shoes to pharmaceutical products.

Fine with it. Won't impact much though. The technology far outpaces the judicial system.

in other news, 50 movies stars bought 5 more residencies each, and then went bankrupt two years later. no Hollywood, you cannot have anymore of my money for your overpaid and financially irresponsible movie stars to fund their multiple houses and rehab stints.

Strike Gently is the web equivalent to an STD. You can temporarily get rid of it, but it'll always be around.

I really don't see this impacting much at all.
