The one thing i really don't like about the album is the american anthem played on the second last track. But danger days is true MCR. You can hear their growth and change in every direction the album takes. But i still have to ask myself: WAS IT WORTH THE WAIT?
being propelled further into the mainstream is not always a good thing.
Sure, I can agree with you, but only if they change their sound to make themselves more mainstream. But, I have never understood, if a band keeps playing the music that they like, and if their fans still like it, why is it bad if their fanbase grows?

nope there's nothing wrong with that. I don't think MCR is chasing the mainstream, but I don't think they have as much passion in their music as they did in the earlier days. Plus the synth stuff annoys the crap out of me, but I digress.
Okay, so I've never been too big on this band in the past. I always like a few of their songs, but I think I had an elitest front on most of the time when it comes to MCR. Three Cheers... had some really catchy songs on it that I liked and The Black Parade had some good tunes as well. It's been years though since I've listened to these guys. I would always label them as "emo" and say that they're a horrible band.
I've only listened to "Na Na Na", but just from that song, as well as all of the unpredictable, positive comments so far, I'm going into the next 13 tracks with optimism for this band for once because I like what I've heard so far, both band-wise and fan-wise.
