"Hallelujah, Colorado!" - Colorado Springs, CO - The Black Sheep - 12/4
Below please find a brief explanation for the inspiration behind each song:
"I'll Leave My Heart in Pittsburgh"
Pittsburgh is a town I've always felt comfortable touring through. Growing up pretty poor gives you a quality that you can't shake off, and sometimes I feel totally out of place. Pittsburgh never made me feel anything but ready to drink and play a great show.
"Run For Your Life, Buckeye!"
I wrote this song for townies everywhere. There's nothing worse than ignorant drunk college kids ruining your town and hitting on your girlfriend - I should know, I was one of those kids. That being said, this song is about handing out ass beatings to those in need. Its all about charity!
"The Gateway To Your Heart"
I was tour managing a Finnish band called Rubik this summer and when we were in St. Louis, they informed me that a Finnish architect was responsible for the beautiful landmark. So I figured that arch, "America's Gateway", would be the central figure in this story. The other being a schizophrenic homeless dude on a bicycle staring at it, waiting for a lost love to materialize. Seemed like a good idea...
"KC, I Need You Now..."
I feel like Kansas City has so many great old rock n' roll tunes written about it, so I wanted mine to be a really cool slinky rock song, a la' Keith Richards. So...here you go...
"Hallelujah, Colorado!"
I really just needed a song to surround the words "Hallelujah, Colorado". I love the way they sound together. Go ahead say it...
