i'm really surprised by this move though. i've always thought rise could be a great label if they improved their roster a little bit and this is definitely a step in the right direction. can't wait to hear new material from both bands.
Rise is not going to stop signing metalcore synth screamo bands. They have the market absolutely cornered, and it's what's made them into a powerful label. And honestly, there are a lot of kids out there who like that music, I personally hate it, but that's just my opinion.
I knew about this deal months ago, when Rise first offered it and Man Overboard and Transit were considering it. Rise simply said they love their music and would like to make a real effort to expand the label's roster. Synthy metalcore won't be a around forever, so they're just trying to diversify, and try and remove that 'only one style of music' label image. They're definitely going to put all the effort they can into Man Overboard and Transit. Congrats to all involved.
Transit and Manoverboard are hardworking dudes they deserve this. Expect a manoverboard and mayday parade tour. Rise may not be what everyone expected but this is better than them going on fuledby ramen where they won't get enough attention or getting brought up to a major too soon like Valencia. I bet when the starting line puts out their next album it's on a label like rise.
I've never liked Transit at all but I did like Man Overboard until that shit storm called Real Talk came out. Sadly I don't think Rise Records is where you are going to get a new direction that is actually good. Best of luck though. Maybe they'll shock me and release something good.
I also don't like that Defend Pop-Punk thing they have going on, especially with all the auto-tune they used on some songs. There was nothing real about that. But anyway, again best of luck and hope they churn something good out this time around.
