i need help clarifying something here...

okay so there are now technically 6 bcs bowls... Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Sugar Bowl, orange bowl, "champions" bowl, and another bowl...AND Two semi-finals ? or two of those bowls with the slated teams are the semi-finals

for instance say in 2014, the first two bowls to host the semi-finals are the Rose bowl and "champions" bowl...doesnt that mean that any team NOT in the sec, big12, big10, pac12 won't have any chance of being in the national title game?

im confused.

for arguments sake...lets say USC, Alabama, Texas, Florida State, and Ohio state were all conference champions (with various records) and you had undefeated boise state or undefeated Cincinnati.... and the rose bowl isn't one of the semi-finals...is the rose bowl stil USC vs Ohio State? Or if those teams are selected to the semi-finals..then the rose bowl needs to find replacements (and so forth)

I think the playoff bowls are no longer conference related.

let me use last year as an example to see if i got this right....and lets say the Rose bowl/Orange bowl are hosting the semi-finals....

so ill assume that the Committee would've picked Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma State, Stanford to be in the semi-finals.

so Rose bowl is: LSU vs. Stanford
Orange Bowl is: Alabama vs. Oklahoma State
how do we decide who plays in the other bowls? im assuming the SEC & sugar are no longer affiliated. is it going to be a rotating pick system?

Sugar Bowl: Oregon vs. South Carolina
Champions Bowl (wont really be big12 champ v sec champ anymore): Arkansas v. Kansas State
Fiesta Bowl: Boise St. vs. Wisconsin
Cotton Bowl: Virginia Tech vs. Michigan

would that be accurate? Can the "bcs bowls" pick whoever they want? can they technically just pick any "decent to good" BIG market team?

so say the rose bowl and "Champions" bowl are the semi-final hosts for that year... the bigten vs pac & sec v big12 thing is thrown out the window?

I'm pretty sure, yeah. Otherwise that wouldn't work. For example, if the Orange and Fiesta were up and this was this past year, the championship contenders would be Virgina Tech, Michigan, West Virginia, and Clemson.

hmm so basically, lets be honest, the "champions bowl" and "rose bowl" are basically irrelevant unless they're hosting the semi-finals. if the champions bowl isn't hosting the semi-finals they will never have a BIg 12 champ vs sec champ "bowl"

I'm pretty there there is no longer Big 12 vs. Sec, Pac-10 vs. Big Ten, etc... It's just the 4 that get in now. Playoff wise, if there are other bowl games then of course they'll continue the conference affiliations.

yea, it would be completely pointless if they kept the a affiliations with the conferences.
I wonder though, if the playoffs will simply be decided by the top 4. Or say, if a team from conference USA (like Houston could have done last year) goes undefeated with an easier schedule, and maybe gets up to #5, would they get in over a one or 2 loss SEC team?
For me, as long as those undefeated teams get in there and get their shot, i'm happy.

lol. Remember last year when their fans thought they had the best team ever because they beat Georgia? And then they lost to somebody really dumb later in the year... can't remember who it was, but it was funny.

well thank god the Las Vegas bowl will be left for them to go to.

I think the undefeated team should get over a one or two loss SEC/Big 10 team. I always like a good underdog story. Unless that means Wisconsin getting bumped out than f them haha.

Also does the highest bid for the game have to be before the season because it would be lame for say USC just bid a shit load to get a home game for the Championship at the last second.

well it depends. remember...all the big time non-bcs conference teams have all switched conferences.

the question you're really asking is...will an undefeated big east team get in over a 1 loss big10, big12, sec, pac12 team...probably not. But if one of those power conference champions has 2 losses..you would surely hope so.

This all goes to shit the year they take 2 loss ohio state over undefeated boise from the big east.

well if that's the case, then i'm sure there will be an ass load of schools looking to fill the final two spots in the Big 12. There's no way that a big east or ACC school, or possibly a combined Mountain west and CUSA conference team that goes undefeated should not get a shot over a 1 or 2 loss team in one of the big 4 conferences.

I really wish all conferences would scrap their championship game. Just my opinion.
