blame Benjamin Franklin, I can't tell you the exact scientific reason though

it is happening 3 weeks earlier this year and will last 1 week later. the government decided on it to reduce energy costs. it stays lighter later so you won't be using as much energy. plus they say it will increase spending because when you are on your way home from work and its still light the chances of you stopping at the store are greater. that at least is the thinking of it all...

It officially changes at 2am Sunday morning. They started it so the farmers would have more light in which to work/do crops and such.

I was quite impressed the first time I heard this. Kudos to the government for doing (or at least trying to do) something good.
