Canadian Music Round-Up Smallman Retrospective:
I’ve been working on a retrospective for Smallman Records since as you may already know, the label closed its doors last year. If you want the long story about why I'm doing this, head here . But all you need to know is that I’ll be sharing little chunks from my project in this space. Today's excerpt comes from Carpenter front man Daniel Sioui:
Sioui’s Favourite Thing:
“They had a diverse roster and no two bands sounded the same. They can’t be pigeonholed as one style. All the bands are different, all the bands are awesome.”
Sioui’s Least Favourite Thing:
“That they’re not putting out any more records. I don’t know, to me they’re sort of the history book of punk rock in Canada for the last almost 15 years. It will be impossible for another label to redo what they’ve done for the punk scene in this country. I feel like they don’t know the impact, but for a lot of people Smallman means a lot. We’ve even found people on tour with Smallman Records tattoos."
