I think this pairing is a bit strange for Thursday. You know the crowds are coming out to see Taking Back Sunday -- Thursday can barely fill 300-400 in most markets -- so Thursday will need to play songs for the Taking Back Sunday audiences. Kids stoked on the original Tell All Your Friends lineup are going to want to hear "Understanding", "Autobiography", etc.. and Thursday's new album really doesn't fit.
I knew Thursday would go on an opening run, but I thought it would be with a bigger band with an older, more mature fanbase who might take the time to sit down with No Devolucion. I expected Epitaph to use their connections to reach out to someone really, really big (The Cure?) or someone just slightly bigger but with a musically explorative fanbase (Coheed and Cambria?).
I'm going to see Thursday do what will likely be their only headlining date until this fall in a few weeks.. I'm really interested in seeing what they do with this new album in a live environment.
