First of all, I would like to say that this is a fantastic review. Probably one of the best ones I've ever read on AP or anywhere else. Secondly, I love Odd Future but I'm finding out that is taking more than a couple listens to get into this album. A lot of the songs feel too long and while some of these songs excel in having a longer time period to get Tylers lyrics in, others just feel like they go on and on with no true end in sight. I know I will end up digging this album but that's just what I'm feeling right now.
I find Odd Future absolutely fascinating. Not surprisingly, their vulgar lyrics will get most of the attention from outsiders, but most of these lyrics shouldn't be taken seriously. Hell, Tyler raps about snorting coke and drug use despite being straight edge. I enjoy the more honest, autobiographical tracks the most, like "Goblin." I like the attitude these guys have. They stick up for each other and want to accomplish all of this on their own. Tyler's turned down plenty of press and accolades just to make it on his own. I have a ton of respect for that. Sure, some of the stuff they write is completely ridiculous, but they've worked hard for something they believe in, kudos.
You can learn a lot about these guys by reading Tyler's formspring. Unlike his tweets, he answers most of the questions seriously.
