04:49 PM on 05/13/11 | That's irrelevant to the point that I made.
All I'm saying is, people don't try to target such groups because of history. As I said, most people would never tolerate a white kid singing about raping and/or killing black or Jewish people. Do you think they would? |
It's relevant since you've used that example a dozen times or so. I see the inclusion of "jews" (I don't even like calling them anything but "jewish people") to this discussion kind of off-base, but I see your point too.
Thing is, Tyler calls himself a Nazi too. And, I've heard Eminem do much worse, and a number of other rappers outdo Eminem and Tyler in every sense. No prisoners are taking, and nothing like religion is even close to being sacred to those guys.
Does it even matter to you that both solo albums from Tyler are concept albums, formed to portray a long therapy session where Tyler fights with his inner demons?

04:49 PM on 05/13/11 | http://www.mattskibafans.com/ The fact that he has to resort to this type of thing to garner attention is pathetic and disgusting. I don't care if he's doing it just to "shock people", which actually makes it even worse btw. He's spewing hate speech and these types of slurs because he can and is getting away with it. Why? Because as I said before, and the point that the OP was making in her write up, mysogony and homophobia aren't seen in the same light as racism is for some reason, even though they are all bred of the some place. Why is this acceptable and defend-able, but if a person went off and wrote an entire song about how they want to murder all muslims or black people, the defense of "well, I'm just doing it for shock value. It's just jokes, it doesn't mean anything," wouldn't fly. People would be on that persons ass so fast their head would spin. They would be condemned. Yet this guy is getting praised and defended when he is doing the same exact thing, it just so happens his subjects are obviously less spoken for. It's wrong and indefensible, no matter how you spin it.

b) If you honestly believe that, you need a kick right up the ass and you will get one of the biggest shocks of your life.
c) Fuck you. |
lol. The people in here are hilarious. I can't believe people are so soft that this sort of stuff affects them, even if it's not directed towards them.

This so hard.
No, she doesn't care. He used the F word, which is OBVIOUSLY unforgiveable.

I've never paid much attention to Tyler's music, I am simply agreeing with Sara's message. It makes me sick that sexism and homophobia are so tolerated by our society.

04:51 PM on 05/13/11 | I like how cwhit says he wouldn't be offended if he took shots at Jews when he deleted the Muzak Dafuckery thread because people were giving him open criticism on an online blog without dragging his religion into the topic. So ignorant/so full of shit etc.

You're an extremely insensitive douchebag sometimes. Whatever sympathy I have for you when people get on your case, quickly diminishes whenever you post such ridiculous comments.

I expected the other replies but I did not expect to be called the worst of today's youth. Mind = blown.

Sexism: attitudes or behavior based on traditional stereotypes of sexual roles.
2.
discrimination or devaluation based on a person's sex, as in restricted job opportunities; especially, such discrimination directed against women.
Homophobia: unreasoning fear of or antipathy toward homosexuals and homosexuality.
There is none of that. It's like people who think making a stereotypical joke is being racist. If there's no hate involved, it's not racist.

04:52 PM on 05/13/11 | No, it would not be the same.
The Jewish community is far more influential and connected than the openly homosexual community. They are more organized. They are in charge of more entertainment elements to the point that people would be afraid to even touch anti-Semitic material. It would not be promoted, marketed, distributed, or accepted on any widespread scale.
A Jewish person has every right to be offended about such things and can openly speak out against it. A homosexual individual does not have it that easy considering the judgment they would potentially face if they aren't "out." I'm sure many of them are offended by numerous things but keep quiet as to protect their privacy because so many other people still find it acceptable to be homophobic or treat it as a joke. |
Very well said. That was exactly my point. Thank you.

04:52 PM on 05/13/11 | Registered Infant Consumer No the upside down cross and 666 are not homophobic but his homophobic content is homophobic. Whats funny is I'm 100% for his right to say, make any type of music he wants. I have no problem with this kid at all and its obvious your a stan/fan of the kid though because you failed to realize that. |
im confused. i wasn't saying it's homophobic. i was just saying it's not anything that should be looked down upon. I thought you were questioning that i said it was just fun.
And the word "******" isn't automatically homophobic. But it is insensitive in a society where it's commonly used that way.
I don't have a problem with people not liking him for his lyrics, twitter, or whatever. I'm not really even trying to defend him, I'm simply questioning the reasoning behind people calling him homophobic. That's all
