but yeah, I never liked these fan club things that you actually have to pay money to join. they hardly ever seem worth it to begin with

i love gym class heroes and all, but this is ridiculous.
first off, get off pat stump's coat-tails (with cupid and clothes off). yes they're both catchy and it wouldn't bother me that clothes off is a single, however when you go an album back and re-release a song as a single off an old album and the dates happen to coincide with FOB coming out at number one on the charts. good marketing move, bad move for the kids who knew about you before and have been hearing that song for two years.
second, it was bullshit when fall out boy started their overcast kids for $30, what makes you think you can weasel it too? we all know damn well that the shirt isn't worth the money and neither are the exclusive photos and tickets. oh and those special exclusive "varsity club only" events will just cost you more money on top of the membership fee.

You do realize at this point in their career, they're really not in control with what single they get to release and whether or not they have a fan club, right? It's all label and people who manage the band.

Not sure, but even then: Atlantic sees their potential and can take over for them at anytime if they wanted to and usually has top say in what they do.

Yeah it's like a Mama Bear sorta thing. FBR and Decaydance is allowed to sign/do their own thing, but Atlantic can intervene and do what they like with it as well.
