Good Old War will play ten shows with Alison Krauss in June, beginning with a stop at Los Angeles' Greek Theatre on June 23rd. The band will then join Gomez for four east coast dates. What is her best album? What are some essential bluegrass records?
I'm just starting to dig into her stuff, but I started with So Long So Wrong. If you're looking for it, it's under the name Alison Krauss and the Union Station. There's a fair balance of songs that showcase her voice and songs that are all-out bluegrass. I'm not a huge bluegrass fan either, but I'm slowly starting to appreciate the musicianship it takes to pull it off.
Otherwise, there's Forget About It, which is her pop album, and this year, she put out Paper Airplane, which is really mellow and easy. This song is just pure bliss:
