Interested to see how Mangini sounds on this. I like Dream Theater, but I was never really into Portnoy's playing. Hopefully Mangini can loosen things up a bit and make it a bit of fun.
idk if it's ironic, its an allusion to what the band has been going through. I'm hoping the departure of Portnoy will re energize this band. Scenes From A Memory is in my opinion a perfect album, and that came on the heels of them hiring Jordan Rudess as the new keyboard player. This shit better rip... Mangini is a BEAST.
Ironic because Mike Portnoy, founding member and drummer for 25 years, left the band mid-tour with A7X causing DT to have to change new album plans and audition/hire a new drummer to take his spot, thus creating a dramatic turn of events? Nah. Probably coincidental.
