I think it's hard to cover Buddy Holly considering his voice and all. I've enjoyed a few of these covers, but none of them come close to the original, for obvious reasons. I think since Zooey's got that old-style classic voice, she does the song justice.

i dunno, all the others just came off as lazy to me, especially Modest Mouse.
