I am very very much into lyrics. I'd like to think if a song has terrible lyrics then i wouldn't like it; however, that isn't completely true. If a song is catchy enough, I'll like it. Music is strongly important, I think. No matter how good the lyrics are, if the music doesn't catch my attention, I can't listen to it. I think lyrics compliment a good song and in turn make it great.
for me, the music strikes me first. but once i pay attention to the lyrics, and if they turn out amazing, i like the band so much more.
if the music is catchy but has no meaning, it's shit to me.
i don't think i can sing any of my favorite songs all the way through, but i can hum/play every riff, melody, etc. in all of them. a good majority of my favorite bands are instrumental, and i feel that words sometimes take away from what i want to get out of alot of songs.
i like the lyrics more just becuase they can get me through shit. like the song american love by haste the day that got me through a break up. there are many songs that have taught me many things through the lyrics.
