Default- One Thing Remains
Label: TVT
Release: 10/11/05
Who?:
Really? You weren't around when Default hit the radio big time with their first single, the Chad Kroeger (lead singer of Nickelback) produced heavy rock "Wasting My Time?" You weren't around when they followed up with a sophomore album that did nothing to plant themselves back into the Top 20 Countdown? Eh, you probably were doing better things anyway.
How Is It?:
There doesn't seem to be a reason this band faded out after the radio explosion of "Wasting My Time:" the rest of the songs are exactly like the first single. The songs on One Thing Remains are filled with distorted power chords, watered down Goo Goo Dolls lead guitar sounds, and re-re-re-re-used lyrical devices that speak to only the most naive of music listeners. Acoustic guitars pop up here and there to add something other than heavy, distortion filled Gibson's pounding through the amps. The tempo's are the same, the sounds are the same, the vocal melodies are the same. Everything is the same as you have heard from Nickelback, Breaking Benjamin, and the rest of the radio-rock friendly boys. So if you're into that, this might be the cd for you. If you're looking for rock that makes an attempt to be original, please don't pick this cd up. You will be "Wasting your time." Sorry, the pun had to come in somewhere.
My First Single was on WrestleMania!: Nickelback, Power chords, big arena rock shows where half of the audience only knows the first single from the band, the worst Goo Goo Dolls song you ever heard.
whats with the random review? they've had more successful songs than just wasting my time. maybe not top 20, but songs like deny and live a lie did fairly well. this band isn't necessarily falling off the face of the earth
