I remember writing articles in the middle school newspaper questioning Bush's justification for invading Iraq in 2002-03 at a time when no one (at least in the Midwest) dared challenge the White House propaganda, and then in 04 finding Anti-Flag's Terror State and Underground Network and later that year American Idiot and Rise Against. Those bands really spoke to what I thought about the world at that time in a way that no one in the "news" dared to. The political bands really shaped my outlook on a lot of things, but in the last 5-6 years, more personal, poppy bands have really stuck with me and meant the most. Rise Against's Sufferer and the Witness I think is the perfect mix of both, and New Found Glory, especially the Coming Home album, their least punk effort, have been the band that has had the most meaning to me in the last 3-4 years.
