02:40 AM on 08/09/11 | http://littlewaves.bandcamp.com/ It was absolutely insane watching this all happen on BBC news last night. Been in London the past few days so I'm really glad I left before this all went down. Best of luck to everyone that's down there, and I hope that the people that did this are brought to justice, although I worry that most will not face any repercussions.

That's not true, just rumours. People actively went and took pictures of the venues last night to show they were fine but boarded up.

Well, at least that's a little bit of good news...but still, dark times for independent UK music and London in general. I hope everyone is safe, at least.

Last Thursday, a man was shot and killed in a 'firefight' with the police in London. However, it later came out that the man was actually unarmed and was possibly shot due to his minority ethnicity (I don't know whether that was confirmed to be true or not), leading to protests in London. However, as it always seems to, things escalated and what began as standing up for something turns into mindless violence as people use the opportunity with the police distracted to loot and cause as much damage as possible. As you might be able to guess, it's particularly bad this time around.

Yeah, I saw on TV and newspapers what's going on. I didn't know that an unarmed (dead) man shot by the police could cause such disorder. I know it's a serious fact and it also involves racism that it's something, I think, it will never ends. But it really was the straw that broke camel's back? So much hidden rage and angst now overflowing in London streets. And it seems like rebellion is spreading in other cities. Hope UK can solve this problem. It's atrocious.
