Not a clue what the Polaris Music Prize is. Is it like the Juno awards?
Sort of, but but really. It's just one award/cash prize of $30000 given to a record of any genre. And it's supposedly based on artistic merit, not sales, but a fairly commercially successful band ended up winning this year anyway.
how could they even be eligible? the suburbs came out summer 2010, shouldn't it have won last year? i mean, i don't really know how this award works or anything, but its just strange to see a band win an award for an album a year and change later.
besides, the suburbs is the worst of their albums.
Because it starts in June and ends in May. Since Arcade Fire released that record in August 2010, it would still be eligible.
