I myself was a fan of the coming home record. Then again I love every record this band has done. For those viewing this as as a step back or have been since coming home I've read in several interviews( no links yet but ill look soon) that coming home was a record meant to be played at home with your headphones and that as proud of that record as they are it wasn't them. They are a band that prides themselves on their live show and showing that in their music. They were also at a different point in their lives then. All of them were married or getting married. But nonetheless great review can't wait to get the deluxe cd in the mail!
Long time NFG fan and I have been spinning this album non-stop the past couple of days. I think it is amazing. Catchy pop punk is what NFG does best and every song on this album has something to offer.
I also don't understand all the hate for the single either, it feels like typical "its not cool to like the single from an album." I can appreciate folks may like other songs on the album more, but to say you do and call out that the song Radiosurgery is garbage (like in this review), kinda amazes me when it is similar to the other songs on the album.
I can understand folks who loved Coming Home are disappointed by this album, as Coming Home was just an average album to me (Coming Home took all the fun out of NFG and that was what was appealing about them to me in the first place) I am not surprised I love this album.
NIce to know the title track is a dud. I have a few other tracks to try, but it's good to know the rest of the album is not reflected by the title track.
I'm seeing several people saying that NWAF is way better than this, and that's fine...just know that even the band themselves look back at that album and view it as somewhat mediocre. Chad has said that they weren't pushed on that album and the front half is noticeably better than the second half, and I completely agree. I feel like Hoppus was more of a buddy than a coach. Theyre peers...I can't see him telling NFG "this song isn't good enough; rewrite it or throw it away" like Avron does.
