A Facebook campaign has been launched to get Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" to be this year's "Christmas Number 1" in the UK and in turn, prevent the winner of X Factor taking the "prize". A similar campaign was launched in 2009 which saw Rage Against The Machine's "Killing In The Name" become "Christmas Number 1".
I'd like to point out that there is a reason behind this as this year X Factor "have decided to effectively bully a children's charity called RHYTHMIX by refusing to change the name of the tepid girl band and suggesting the charity "get a lawyer"."
This is really stupid, I wish they would support an upcoming band or something instead.
That's a pretty stupid idea, as people would not buy in numbers for unknown band.
Glad Nirvana is the band this year and everyones sticking with just one band. Last year it was a mind fuck with All The Small Things, Bird Is The Word and there was another song that I don't remember.
X Factor are a bunch of cunts for what they did to that charity.
Hey, they did it last year. I have full confidence in these guys to make Nirvana number 1. Who knows, maybe Krist/Dave would do a one off show with a singer to be named if they go through with this? (I'd rather they not but whatever) lol
Can't help but feel this one might actually do it. 20 years since Nevermind, plus the whole Rhythmix thing... Gotta hope. Strangely, this year i caught 2 bits of X Factor, and a girl called Janet, one called Jade and in the live bit, a female black rapper/singer and a chubby guy were all pretty good.
