A lot of high school couples I know are still going strong, and first year of uni is pretty much over. I guess it depends on how committed you guys are.

my friend just broke up with her boy friend from junior year of high school. we're seniors in college now. i'm pretty sure they were the last couple to break up from my high school.

more often than not, high school relationships don't last. you change, your bf/gf change, the dynamics of the relationship change. life gets in the way. like other relationships you'll have during your adult life, it may come to an end. unless you're cory and topanga.

now that being said, it doesn't mean you should end it before you give it a chance. don't go into it thinking you have an expiration date. every song must come to an end, but is that any reason not to enjoy the music?

been out of high school for 5 years, and I don't think i know a single couple that had started dating in high school that is still together now. plenty of them last a while, but end up breaking off at the first or second year of college. or sooner. what usually happens is the relationship ends up being too confining for one of the people involved because the college years makes them feel ambitious. or bored. this happens to relationships that start IN college too, as well as after, not just with high school couples.

but like people have mentioned, there are exceptions to this. but. keep in mind, YOU may end up being the one feeling confined. don't put your personal goals/ambitions to the side for the sake of a relationship, especially not when you're young.

sorry if thats dark. damnnnn.

Statistically, the odds are against you. However, my parents have been together since they were 15. 31 years later, they're as happy as ever.

Mine too. And my girlfriend and I started dating when we were 16, broke up soon after, had a ridiculous "friend" relationship with all kinds of tension until a few weeks into college (we both go to school in Boston), and have been together ever since (we're both about to graduate).

It happens, just don't be a piece of shit. If you want to be a piece of shit, break up first. If you're going to get back together, you'll get back together.

it was mentioned before but the odds aren't in your favor. time heals but sometimes it also breaks bonds. that doesn't mean your relationship won't last though. its a tough question to answer, there is no black and white really.

also (just something I've learned), i read here that you don't really fight. Thats good! however remember that conflict isn't necessarily bad. Its good that you haven't seen anything about the other person that really irks you (or so it seems), just keep in mind its better to talk and resolve any issues you may have now as oppose to having it blow up later. Best of luck in your relationship man!

I dated a girl for 4 years, starting the second half of my junior year of high-school. The girl you knew in high-school will probably not be the same girl 2-3 years from now. In the scheme of things, 1 year is not very much time... you WILL fight, both of you WILL change. It's inevitable. That doesn't mean you won't make it--but the way you feel now about your relationship will change. Not to say it's impossible, but a lot of those people that were high-school sweethearts were as determined as you were at making things work--I'm one of them. Just be open and honest with your girlfriend about everything you can, especially the direction you decide you want to take with a career, because her idea of what she would like could be completely different than what you want to do.

I hope so! I'm in my senior year of HS and I don't have a "boyfriend", but I do have a "thing" with someone (who's out of high school) and I want to marry him!!! Seriously. I want to get married and have kids now. And he's older so he'll probably be ready soonish!!!!! I want a baby and husband.
bye
