He said in the press release when Clarence died that his spirit would continue to live on in their music and future, etc, so I don't think retiring was ever an option. Also, and in NO WAY is this meant to disrespect the legacy or amazingness of Clarence, but he had been appearing on the most recent albums less and less and I hesitate to say that, at least on record, things may not be so different. It's going to be interesting to watch the band live, though, without the Big Man around...
