12:51 PM on 11/29/11 | dude we get it, you have a boner for refused |
I would if I was a guy, I guess. Just trying to explain what seems to be pretty obvious, but I guess I'm finished since it still isn't to some.

12:52 PM on 11/29/11 | There's a melody in everything After reading that article and a few others, I have no idea how to react to that site.
Can someone please explain the point of SYWH?
Edit: just switched from the mobile site to the full site on my phone and saw the "about" section. Oops.

12:54 PM on 11/29/11 | WENNER: What music do you listen to today?
LENNON: If you want the record bit, since I’ve been listening to the radio here, I like a few things by Neil Young and something by Elton John. There are some really good sounds, but, then there is usually no follow-through. There will be a section of fantastic sound come over the radio, then you wait for the conclusion, or the concept or something to finish it off, but nothing happens except it just goes on to a jam session or whatever. |
yeah but john lennon was fucking retarded when he said that stuff, he also said that bruce springsteen was just another pop sensation that was going to get eaten away by the media and be gone within a year and look how wrong he was on that

12:54 PM on 11/29/11 | I thought it was required to listen to The Shape of Punk to Come before you can register for this site, oh well it should be. |

12:54 PM on 11/29/11 | the shape of punk just came In all seriousness, He's got a lot of nerve. He's not exactly saying anything we didn't already know. I don't like how he basically asserts that bands shouldn't make "mad" music if it's not about politics. A bit self-righteous.

12:56 PM on 11/29/11 | Haha by happenstance I saw your post then saw you in here so I thought I'd ask. I actually prefer the debut overall, but Demon Days definitely had bigger and better singles, so it's really a personal preference. I was with you though - I thought some of that review was pretty unfair, especially the first sentence. No matter what I think Plastic Beach was their best record to date. That thing trumps the other two albums just because of it's cohesiveness. |
Classic Pitchfork review, really. That's the reason they're so hated too, the way they throw in that "controversial" schtick without real purpose is just annoying but most of their writers are almost trained to do it that way. I'm not sure if I think Plastic Beach is the best album though, I really really really like Demon Days and wish I could buy it on vinyl. I guess the 7'' singles collection will have to do for now.

12:57 PM on 11/29/11 | I don't get people complaining about Dennis Lyxzén being self-righteous and full of himself, I really don't. Not when he's ripping on some pretty shitty bands. But also...haha...this guy was in the band that wrote The Shape of Punk to Come. Look at that title. And shut up.

refused are a good band and obviously influenced the genre. just I honestly think theyre pretty overrated (doesnt mean i think theyre bad). the singer comes off as jaded and somewhat pretentious. just cause he thinks that music should follow a certain mold, doesnt make it shitty. while yes the bands are pretty bad, his reasoning is just biased bullshit

I feel you. Overrated in what sense, though? I mean, every band takes cues from bands before them, and they certainly did. But the time signatures, borrowings from other genres outside the genre they came from, and lyrically, I wouldn't think they were overrated. But they do get way more attention then they ever needed/wanted. And this is about Dennis anyway, haha.

No doubt. Yeah it's really hit or miss with them for me. Sometimes they hate shit i love and vis versa but I still read it everyday. Try and stay away from the Facebook posts because of the trolls though. I stick with stereogum for music and cokemachineglow for reviews mostly. They're way more hilarious. Pitchfork does get a lot of things right tough, gotta admit.

Dude. You are getting way way too deep with this.
These bands are shit. Everyone thinks they're shit. They get bashed by everyone on this site because they are shit.
If anyone said this would you be arguing the same way?
What difference does it make if he's from the Refused or
Thursday or Bane or Rancid or gasp TBS - they are all thinking the same thing. Period.

01:08 PM on 11/29/11 | This was a funny read and Rufused is a great band, but sometimes that "I guess I'm too old" mentality bugs me.
|
01:09 PM on 11/29/11 | Talking about the second and third It's depressing how many people I know who listen to BMTH who have no idea who Refused are. Urgh.
