01) The Cab - Symphony Soldier
The Cab wins this year by a landslide, and they've held that number one spot since the moment I heard Symphony Soldier. It's funny because New Found Glory is undoubtedly my favorite band, and Radiosurgery is probably in my top 3 or top 2 favorite NFG albums. But something about The Cab's record ... about ALL of it ... came exactly at the right time, and it's going to be sticking around for quite a while.
Not only did it have everything I want in the type of music I listen to the most, but this year literally would not have been the same if it weren't for that album, and I'd say that 2011 was one of my best years in a very long time. It might sound weird that a collection of songs on a disc changed so much ... but then again, it doesn't need to make sense to anybody but me. And that's the best part about your favorite album. It doesn't make a difference who the band is, how original they are, or what genre the music is in. The only thing that matters is the impact the record had -- the feelings, the memories, whatever it was -- that hit you in the way that allowed you to call it your favorite. Symphony Soldier, for me, acted as the soundtrack for one hell of a year.

04:31 PM on 12/27/11 | I liked Symphony Soldier, not loved it though but was a good album that's undervalued. Massive respect for Misfits and Dexter on the TV show front, they may have not been at their best this year but they still make my top 3 (behind Breaking Bad that is) | | |
