Some bands may make a bit off record sales, but alot don't make anything. Some artists are lucky to see a few cents from a single sold on iTunes, but they see all ~$20 (minus cost, ~$2-3) of a shirt sold at their shows.

You are factually wrong. If you end up making about seven bucks a shirt - you're smart and you're making bank. You're talking about fantasy numbers.

So far it's been the only way I make money in music. Then again, I'm speaking from an independent artist point. I'm sure it is different for them.
