IMO, Latterman should be added first to that RIYL. Bands are extremely similar
Also, here's a link to the free DL, if you wanna throw that in the review
editing into the review - and putting latterman in front of a band like this, in my opinion, is just a given. it's almost lazy. it's like putting new found glory or blink-182 in the front of a RIYL for a pop-punk band.
Not really, though. Many people haven't heard of Spraynard or Dikembe, Dads, You Blew It!, Algernon Cadwallader etc. Putting a band like Latterman at the front, while not only being extremely accurate, would also get more people to check em out. And vice versa, if people haven't heard of Latterman
The similarities between Latterman and Spraynard are a lot bigger in terms of music then the similarities between Blink and a new wave pop punk band. Or blink to NFG. There's so many Blink fans on the site that it would be silly to put that in front. Latterman is a lot different, at least on this site
Not lazy if it's that accurate
I guess so. I guess it's because when you're reading reviews of punk records, any band could have Latterman in front of it. All of PunkNews' reviews could have the comparison - just in my recent reviews, I could RIYL Latterman for Banner Pilot, Nothington, Nightlights and Spraynard. I just try to not recycle the same bands for that section, but I guess for a lot of pop-punk fans on this site, who normally like the newer bands more, there would be some separation.
I don't really think any of those bands sound like Latterman nor do I think Algernon, Dikembe or Dads sound like Spraynard. I get that's not what a RIYL actually means, I just feel like these two bands sound similar enough that they would warrant a RIYL mention. Kind've a silly discussion, but whatever
At least it's getting attention with this review
Agreed on the silly part, and yeah, I hope more people get into this up-and-coming group. I'm actually kind of stoked because I'm finding out about a lot of these sorts of bands in the Gainesville/Tallahassee area. Actually quite a few of the bands have members common to Dikembe/Wavelets.
hey, cool! these guys are a local band for me. i used to really follow them when they were called The Domino Theory (not sure if the band is 100% the same members or what though..), but i kinda haven't followed them as closely lately.
