I talk to people pretty regularly via email... we were talking about something and I made a crack that I'd do lunch if no one was going to jump me for my sarcasm on the website.
Hahaha... I read the post to mean that Victory would essentially contact you if they saw that you made a joke or said something negative about one of their bands.

They've always been a great label in terms of how they treat their bands. Glad they're starting to use that influence to promote good music though. They could've spent their time building up bands like La Dispute, Pianos Become The Teeth, Touche Amore, Caravels, We Were Skeletons, etc instead of popularizing the awful metalcore bands they've signed. At least those bands are starting to get the attention they deserve though.

Oh. Yeah. All the time. Haha. AAALLLLL the time. And then tell me they'd never buy ads again if I didn't stop. Like that would stop me. Heh.

Still like that they're using my (crappy) layout for their news posts on their homepage.

Super bias. I like what I like. Everyone's bias. I'm just up front about it.

That is just a waste of time on their end to micromanage every little situation with emails to the owner of one website. If bands/labels can't take criticism/jokes, than there are bigger issues. Not every relationship is buddy-buddy all of the time. That is why it is called a business relationship. If anything, flooding your inbox with complaints would make you less likely to post their stuff, I would think.

I'm starting to like Rise since they stopped signing bullshit bands. More Transit and Sharks, please.

The only major difference I see is in record sales. To my knowledge, Rise hasnt had any gold/platinum records. Or acts to reach the level of success as Taking Back Sunday, Hawthorne Heights, Thursday, Atreyu or even A Day to Remember. But whos to say they cant with all of their amazing signings as of lately. Hell, even Attack Attack! could be that band, even with all the hate.
The Devil Wears Prada aren't as big as Atreyu or Hawthorne Heights? I'm sorry, that's utter bull.

Rise isn't the new Victory until they withhold royalties from their bands, dump massive resources into just one band, sell a bunch of pointless merch from said band and have a bunch of vinyl pressings that are clear/whatever transparent color with shitty black "smoke" swirls in them. Then they can be the new Victory.
This.

I think DWP are way better than either of those bands but Hawthorne Heights had a gold album (like 800k sales) and Atreyu sold like 450k copies of one of their albums (according to wiki anyway). I don't think TDWP are even close to that.

Atreyu and Hawthorne Heights are more "radio friendly", so if we're talking about album sales, then yeah, you're gonna see a difference there. But as a brand and a band, The Devil Wears Prada are bigger than those two bands were at their peak. My grandpa knows who they are. But then again he's an ABR fan haha.

I know they are huge, but did they sell gold/platinum status while on Rise? Im not even sure. Didnt they only release one album on Rise? I know times are different and know artist does those numbers anymore.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't interested in seeing the behind the scenes communication on some of the big drama issues that have occurred over the years. I could see Brumel cranking out a few solid emails in his day... or a manager/band member of some sort sending out a completely emotional and unprofessional email that is now memorable. But, the business man in me is glad that you don't just throw that stuff out into the public domain. Most recently with latest TDS post. Some things are better kept behind closed doors. Maybe one day when all of this is over and AP is one of the most revered websites and you have been retired (sold it off), sipping cocktails on the beach, you can have someone publish a book on your behalf.
