"Do It Yourself" - it's a term thrown around a lot in today's scene. Bands that practice and preach this mentality wear it as a badge of honor. The only question, what does DIY truly mean? What does it mean to fully embrace the DIY ethos? In this new feature, we will be speaking with people in the industry that run the spectrum of what it means to be DIY and their advice to people wanting to learn more about the entire process. This can range from booking your first tours, setting up a press kit, or recording on a budget. The topics are nearly endless.
Today, we are proud to present our first entry in the feature from Sara Stile who runs Support The Tour.
Sarah! Great post! I've been in the same DIY band for 8 years now. Booking DIY US/UK tours, getting my band involved and on stage at Warped Tour, putting out co-writes and records with names like Ace Enders (The Early November) and Trevor Riley ( A Wilhelm Scream), putting together all our own PR/ Marketing plans and all that Jazz, it's easy to feel like were beating a dead horse sometimes! Without people like you DIY bands wouldn't be able to survive!

I read the title as TUI til I die and tHought that AP was promoting a trapped under ice tour. Tripped me the fuck out until I got halfway through and realized it wasn't TUI.

When I hear DIY I usually think of shows and venues rather than JUST bands. Like shows in garages, art spaces, house shows, etc where most shows are donation based, proper permits probably are not to be had hahaha etc. But yeah DIY definitely applies to tours, this STT thing sounds amazing.
I was recently talking with some friends in a band about how awesome it would be if there was a site that provided this very same service to DIY bands out there to help people on the road. I'll be forwarding this link to those that might would use it.
