Why does everyone hate "Burn Burn" so much? There were some really excellent tracks on it and it was drastically different from the band's other work. I thought the album was refreshing and showed a band that's aging gracefully. "Dreamland" and "Paper Moon" are two of my all time favorite tracks.
However, don't get me wrong, the album doesn't hold up to the Clumsy, Happiness is Not a Fish That You Can Catch, and Spiritual Machines period, but it feels like a more natural progression for the band than Gravity and Healthy in Paranoid Times. While not one of the band's greatest moments, it was the first thing I heard I liked from the band since Spiritual Machines.
I'm a very big fan of the band. The "OMA" tag in my alias is a tip-off.
I liked Burn, Burn a good deal. Didn't end up on my year end list for 2009, but I enjoyed a handful of the tracks on there a lot, which has pretty much always been the theme for me with these guys. A lot of songs I love, but no one album that I come back to a lot. Still, excited for this.
old peace, new peace, middle peace, whatever the band is fucking legit. Burn Burn wasn't the best album but 4 of the songs on it are some of my favorites by olp. love the new song can't wait for this album.
It's refreshing to me to see so many people here liking Healthy, because from what I remember when it came out a lot of their fans were displeased with the album and I recall in interviews post-Healthy the band kind of considered it the first time they let the label step in and start making decisions. I could be misremembering.
Loved HIPT - World on a String is an unskippable track on my random playlist shuffle.
