I loved People and Things and I just saw him in Toronto and it was a very good concert. I will admit overall TGP is my least favorite of the J'sM albums but Hammer and Strings might just be one of my favorite Jack's songs. Whatever he does I know I will still follow and listen.

Go for it. Please start over. I think he could use a refresh. Was not a big fan of People and Things.

I think 99% of us would agree Everything In Transit is the best Jack's Mannequin will ever be. All subsequent albums were/are juxtaposed with that one and are expected to top that. Not fair. The story has run its course, I personally think it's a smart move. I think he felt a little confined during the writing process for People and Things, because he was trying to fit into a mold, and I think it showed. Even though it had some catchy songs, that album just comes across as watered down and safe, IMO. I love Andrew, SoCo and Jack's, but he's smart to do this. Not only does it free up his creative process for writing music going forward, but now he can't (for lack of a better term) bastardize the Jack's moniker by writing music that he's not completely behind. He keeps all his fans and removes expectations...brilliant.

I agree.. I thought the best songs on that album were the ones where he took a more upbeat, Soco-like direction (Release Me, Amy I, etc)

Nnoooooo. Please, no. People and Things was my album of the year for 2011. Maybe even my favorite Jack's record.

But if it means that idea someone posted about Andrew McMahon juggling multiple stuff, alrighty then.

Anyway, I think the best part of that interview was that he was talking more about "the next phase of my career," which I guess pretty much confirms that he isn't planning on stopping making fantastic music.

It is a starry night tattoo. I have the jm symbol with the asterisk also since they are my favorite band and my intitials are jm. I have thought about the plane also or just the whole eit cover.
