Never really mattered to me because the "unlike" button is just a few inches away.
Hidden at the bottom though -- and if the band has 80 apps installed, I find myself scrolling down to unlike ... so the process is: like > click the app/tab > listen to song > unlike.

That experience sucks, IMO. Especially if I'm doing it multiple times a day to listen to new bands.

I just hate listening to music on computers in general. send me free samplers, all you bands, and I'll get to you eventually.
Really? Man, I am such the opposite now. I don't want physical music anymore (vinyl being the exception). I have no room for CDs. And I don't even know what I would play a CD right now in the house with ... I'd probably just use the CD player on my computer anyway. All the music I listen to is basically digital now. I have a few CDs in the car in case I forget my iPod or iPhone (rare).

I am just fine not ever getting another CD to be honest at this point. I've crossed over.

I usually don't press that button unless if it's a band I really love. Even then, I don't want to click "like" just to hear a new song. I don't really use Facebook to check out new bands.
I think that for as big as Facebook has gotten - they still don't have a good experience for brands - and especially bands. I know they like touting "Spotify" as their "music service" - but it's just flat out not what it could be and should be.

Bandcamp is probably the best place for unsigned/smaller bands to display music right now ... and I think that site is missing the community aspect and social discovery.

Facebook could own the space with the right focus/product manager. But I get why they have other priorities right now.

Ha, interesting. I could not live with myself if I wouldn't get CDs anymore. My collection is getting bigger and bigger and I'm loving it more each day, even though I listen almost all of my music on the computer or on my iPod.
I love collecting vinyl ... and that's where I'm ok with expanding my collection. I just don't think I have any more room for extra CDs anymore. Especially of stuff I don't "love" - or promos.

This is my garage. I have no more room.

With the vinyl - the display looks better compared to the plastic. And I listen to almost everything through either iTunes or Rdio now.

I'll cling to cds as long as there's a place to buy em. I'll buy digital if it's the only option, but I love buying an album, opening it and connecting where I am in life at that moment to said album. I'm very old-school.. still weird to me to say that about cds haha. (excuse the shortening of your reply, mobile I am lol)
I do like that connection process -- but I think I find that in vinyl now instead of the "CD" format.

I don't get why people make a fuss over this. A band wants more likes to get their music out to more people and garner new fans. I say like it and if it really bugs you that you "liked" a band you end up not enjoying then unlike them.
Try having to do it 20 times a day. Less friction is always a better user experience IMO.

I can see why it would get slightly annoying of you do it 20 times a day. Most people only do it a couple times a week though so I dont see it as a big deal. Is it annoying? Of course but it's for a decent purpose so I say why not.
Because it's annoying.

Is it really that big of a deal? From a band perspective, it's a good way to track what new people have listened to your music. Just "unlike" if you don't like it?

Why not just run to youtube and search for the band if you want to hear them? :)
Because the moment you make something more difficult than need be for a user .. you've lost potential fans.
