Goo Goo Dolls To Release Greatest Hits Album

Posted by - 04:09 PM on 08/25/07
The Goo Goo Dolls will be releasing a greatest hits album on November 13th entitled The Goo Goo Dolls Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 - The Singles.
Press ReleaseBURBANK, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 08/23/07 -- The Goo Goo Dolls, one of the great American rock & roll bands of our generation, have become one of the most globally respected and loved songwriting forces in popular music history. In recent months, the Buffalo natives set the all-time record for the artist with the most Top 10 hits in Hot AC Radio ever with twelve. This past week, The Goo Goo Dolls have achieved even greater heights expanding their own record which now stands at 14 successive Top 10s adding singer/guitarist Johnny Rzeznik's solo track, "I'm Still Here (Jim's Theme)" from the "Treasure Planet" soundtrack and their current Goo Goo Dolls hit, "Before It's Too Late (Sam and Mikaela's Theme)" from the "Transformers" soundtrack.

At last, The Goo Goo Dolls have gathered up their most-beloved songs and will release Volume One of a Greatest Hits package, the first-ever of their 21-year career, on November 13th, on Warner Bros. Records in a single-disc package.

"The Goo Goo Dolls Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 - The Singles" will include the band's three Number One smashes -- "Name," "Iris," and "Slide," -- as well as the Top 10s "Black Balloon," "Dizzy," "Broadway," "Here is Gone," "Big Machine," "Sympathy," "Better Days," "Stay With You," and "Let Love In," the title track from the Goos most recent album, which has been certified gold. Each single has scored across the panel at multiple radio formats. Also featured on the album is a remix of "Feel the Silence" by acclaimed mixer Michael Brauer (The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney).

Also expected in early 2008 will be "Greatest Hits Vol. 2," which will include new recordings, remixes, a plethora of rarities to include B-sides, some unexpected cover versions of some of the band's favorite songs and more. A DVD/MVI disc of live footage and extras will also be included in the deluxe package with a complete concert from their show at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado in June of 2007. The band -- Rzeznik, bassist Robby Takac, and drummer Mike Malinin -- have been on the road since Spring of 2006, supporting "Let Love In" and show no signs of slowing down as they've just completed a string of sold-out shows in the UK. Their next American tour will start up again on August 23rd in Chicago and wind-up at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles on September 6th.

The track-listing for "The Goo Goo Dolls Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 - The Singles" is as follows:

"Name"
"Iris"
"Slide"
"Broadway"
"Black Balloon"
"Dizzy"
"Here is Gone"
"Big Machine"
"Sympathy"
"Better Days"
"Stay With You"
"Let Love In"
"Before It's Too Late"
"Feel the Silence"

random thought: robbie takac's voice won't be on this cd at all even though he has done plenty of vocal work for this band over the years

They had a Hits album a while back, not 'singles' though called What I Learned About Ego, Opinion, Art and Commerce

Has some really good tracks on it and a studio recording of a live song if I remember right..

I'm pretty sure that wasn't a "greatest hits album", at least not in the sense of a collection of songs that are very popular.

no, his songs are a good change of pace from johnnys voice and theyre usually have more of a punkish sound like the band used to have back in the day.

Geez I'm glad it's only "Johnny's songs..." I didn't really like the others and I saw them last night live at our state fair, and the songs sung by Robbie were kind of bad... That, and no one in the crowd knew what was going on, since they all only screamed when they heard the 3-4 songs they knew... Hahaha...

Anyway, it's about time they released this! I got into them about two CDs into their newer sound but haven't ever forked over the money. Finally I'll have a CD where I can basically cover my bases before going back to the old stuff.

It's the Volume 2 that has me excited.

"new recordings, remixes, a plethora of rarities to include B-sides, some unexpected cover versions of some of the band's favorite songs and more. A DVD/MVI disc of live footage and extras"

Awesome.

Everybody always shits on Robbie's songs, that makes me sad. I think that his songs compliment Johnny's just fine, plus if we had an album of just Johnny songs, it would be overwrought with melodrama (as most of Let Love In was). Robbie's songs always seem to enter at just the right moment.

I believe all of those songs on that cd were actually remakes of the originals.
