RYAN ADAMS & THE CARDINALS ANNOUNCE NEW EP
FOLLOW THE LIGHTS TO BE RELEASED 10/23 ON LOST HIGHWAY
INCLUDES NEW SONGS TO BE FEATURED ON ABC'S 'OCTOBER ROAD'

As Ryan & The Cards begin another long stretch of tour dates, they have also announced plans for a new EP to be released Oct 23 on Lost Highway Records. Follow The Lights is a seven song collection that includes both new and old compositions, several of which were recorded live in the studio this summer.

The two new songs on the disc, "Follow The Lights" and "My Love For You Is Real" will both be featured prominently in this fall's season of the ABC primetime drama "October Road" (airing 10pm on Mondays). "Follow The Lights" will also be used in bumpers leading up to the show's season premiere on November 26th. The complete sequence for Follow The Lights is:

1. Follow The Lights (new song)
2. My Love For You Is Real (new song)
3. Blue Hotel (first official release, recorded live in studio)
4. Dear John (live in studio)
5. This Is It (Cardinals version, live in studio)
6. Down In A Hole (Alice In Chains cover, live in studio)
7. If I Am A Stranger (live in studio)

Follow The Lights comes on the heels of Ryan's latest full length album Easy Tiger, which has been widely recognized as some of his finest work to date. The Associated Press described it as "the most cohesive and intricately arranged album [Adams] has ever made", and Time called it "a career breakthrough." Since Easy Tiger's release Ryan & The Cards have been on the road almost constantly, and as Variety recently put it, "[Adams is] probably giving the best performances of his career."

i'm so completely not surprised to hear this. blue hotel is great, their version of dear john without norah has killed on every bootleg i've heard, and yeah, a Cardinals version of This is it...should be cool.

Looks like the allmusic review of Easy Tiger was dead on, even though possibly joking when they ended the review with...

"For some fans, it's exactly what they've been waiting for, for others it'll be entirely too tidy, but don't worry -- if Adams has proven to be anything it's reliably messy, and he's sure to get ragged again somewhere down the road (and based on his past record, safe money is on October 2007)." -Stephen Thomas Erlewine
i'm pumped.

There was a really good interview in American Songwriter magazine where he talked about how he doesn't revise his songs. He just keeps writing new ones. That's what makes him a lot of different than many songwriters out there and also able to release records so fast.

haha yeah...yet most of the songs (except one) on the ep are just revised old songs. the article was a good read though. I think this ep will be good but it just seems like another release to get out of his contract with lost highway.

with that being said, you're from lawrence. did you see he might be playing liberty hall in january?

Great news. Easy Tiger is still in my top 5 for this year.
