altogether average. although, i like that he is going for the antichrist sound. i just think he is past it by now. still will give it a chance though. i actually liked the last record the high end of low. 15 was a great song

Manson said in an interview that this album will sort of sounds like what he listened to before he made records, (Killing Joke, Joy Division, Revolting Cocks, Bauhaus, Birthday Party) he also said thats it's very rhythm-driven and actually very bluesy, kind of like a little more of a punk rock mechanical animals without sounding too pretentious, he classes it a "suicide death metal"

I think this is alright for him, definitely better than he's been doing in the past 6+ years.

However, times are changing and people just aren't caring for this act as much as they use to. Think he needs to pull a Green Day American Idiot-era transformation and take a risk at a new presentation. His last handful of albums are all forgettable to me.

Mechanical Animals is the only thing that can sort of still stand up out of its time period. Otherwise, this dude is a product of the 90's and is not shocking anymore since we have events and people who are ACTUALLY shocking and upsetting these days (Fred Phelps, etc.)

He should sing about eating a balanced diet from all the food groups.
